The Junior Sportsperson of the Year is presented to the 'Best Performing ParaFed Canterbury Junior Athlete aged 17 years or under'.
It was first presented in 1994 with the inaugural recipient being Hayden Brown, who went on to receive it for three consecutive years. There have been a total of 15 recipients, including 7 who are now New Zealand Paralympains, including Dame Sophie Pascoe, Holly Robinson, William Stedman and Gabriella Smith.
