WHO CAN JOIN?

To be eligible to join ParaFed Canterbury, or attend our programmes, you must have a permanent physical or visual impairment. Our membership includes, but is not limited to, the following impairments:

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Spinal Cord Injury
  • Spina Bifida
  • Limb Amputees
  • Limb Impairments
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Muscular Atrophy
  • Charcot-Marie-Tooth
  • Achondroplasia - Short Stature
  • Blind & Low Vision
  • Hemiplegia, Traumatic Brian Injury or Stroke (if these result in a permanent physical impairment)

PARA SPORT PATHWAY

Please note; members wishing to pursue a competitive Para sports pathway must have an eligible impairment for their sport. In a situation where we are unsure whether an impairment would meet the criteria, you may be requested to be assessed for a provisional classification (physical or visual) through Paralympics New Zealand.

OTHER IMPAIRMENTS

We have a membership of over 300 people and unfortunately it is not possible to cater for all impairment types. If your impairment is not a physical or visual impairment (ie: intellectual, austism, ADHD, chronic pain, hearing impairment), below are some other contacts that might be able to assist you:
