HISTORY OF THE ACADEMY PROGRAMME
The Academy Programme was established in 1998 by Ben Lucas (Paralympian and ParaFed Canterbury Sports Manager at the time). The programme has supported over 100 athletes and coaches since that time, including 33 athletes who were or have gone on to become New Zealand Paralympians.

Paralympian Alumni

The goal of our Academy Programme is to support ParaFed Canterbury athletes and coaches on their pathway to high performance programmes, and ultimately representing New Zealand at World Championships and Paralympic Games.

Those selected in the programme will receive a funding grant, have the opportunity to attend academy seminars (ie: drug free sport, nutrition, media training), and have their achievements promoted through the year.
